Founder's Story
The Journey Behind the Vision That Built the Institution — Superb School
EARLY LIFE & HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
Apostle Igbagri Joseph Ikangbo was Born in Obudu, Cross River State, Nigeria. He began life under very modest conditions. From a young age, he was introduced to carpentry—not through formal training, but through necessity and survival.
With no structured guidance and limited access to opportunities, he learned through observation, persistence, and determination. Despite these challenges, he managed to complete his primary education with the support of his father.
At that point, his educational journey came to a halt—not by choice, but by circumstance.
Yet, even in those early years, seeds of resilience, discipline, and purpose were quietly being planted.
A RETURN TO EDUCATION AGAINST ALL ODDS
In what many would consider impossible, Apst. Igbagri made a life-defining decision.
At a stage when he was already married and raising children, he returned to secondary school—choosing growth over comfort, and purpose over limitation.
Â
Founder in his secondary school days:
Through determination and self-discipline, he successfully completed his secondary education and went further to pursue higher learning.
He obtained his National Certificate in Education (NCE) through self-sponsorship, and later earned a degree in English & Linguistics from the University of Owerri.
This remarkable journey reflects not just academic pursuit, but a powerful message:
It is never too late to become what you were meant to be.

DISCOVERING PURPOSE — A CALL TO SERVE
Despite achieving personal and family success, Apst. Igbagri felt a deeper calling—one that extended beyond himself.
In February 2002, he prayed a simple but powerful prayer:
“Lord, make me useful in one way or another.”
By August of that same year, clarity came—he was called to establish a school.
Though resources were limited and the path uncertain, he stepped forward in faith, trusting in God’s ability to turn small beginnings into great impact.
With just ₦1,000, one bench, and a plank to serve as a second seat, the journey began.
In September 2004, Joe and Christ Nursery and Primary School was established with only his three children as the first pupils.
Â
From that humble beginning, guided by faith and purpose, the foundation of what is now SUPERB INTERNATIONAL MODEL SECONDARY SCHOOL was laid.
What started small has grown into a thriving institution shaping hundreds of lives.
